Boat parties are different
We've taken the party onto the water with boat parties on the Thames, and a boat asks different things of a DJ than a function room does. Space is tight, power comes from the boat, boarding and departure times are fixed, and the whole thing moves. The rig has to be compact and quick to load, and the set has to work for a crowd that is often right next to the booth.
Our boat party setup
- Compact PA and lighting. For boats and tight corners we scale the rig down, without losing the sound.
- Quick load-on and load-off. Set up in the boarding window and packed away before you step off.
- Power agreed in advance. We check the boat's power supply with the operator before the day.
- PAT tested and insured. Operators often ask for paperwork. We send it straight over.
Do you hire the boat?
No. You book the boat with a Thames operator and we provide the DJ, sound and lighting. If the boat already has a sound system, we are happy to plug into it. If you haven't booked a boat yet, check with the operator that a DJ is allowed and ask what power is available on board. We're happy to talk to them for you.
Types of boat party
- Private parties and birthdays. A birthday on the river, from an indie singalong to a deep house sunset set.
- Corporate boat parties. Summer parties and company nights for teams who have done the hotel ballroom.
- Weddings and anniversaries. A wedding evening or anniversary cruise.
Planning the music for the water
A Thames trip has a built-in arc: boarding, the first stretch where everyone is looking out of the windows, and the point where the view stops mattering and the floor fills. We plan the set around the cruise times and your must-plays, and build it as the night goes.

Boat party DJ bookings start from £450 and are quoted per event, based on the length of the cruise, the boarding and return times, and the size of the boat.
